Who we are
RITES OF STEEL - a handful of music writers who've been at this long enough to remember when reviews were written by people who'd actually worn the record out and a ticket was a printed slip of card. Somewhere along the way the coverage became thinner, the ads grew bigger and the ones left standing were either linguistically challenged or unwilling print anything that might upset an account manager. We are making the paper we want to read.
RITES OF STEEL is a tabloid about metal, in print, put together slowly and argued over at length. Expect plenty of bands still fighting for space alongside the odd name you might actually recognise - the only test is whether their racket warrants the column inches. This is a passion project, and it answers to nobody's marketing budget.
